Hello 2018

I think it’s safe to say that 2017 has been a terrible year for me and for a lot of other people in general.

2017 has been the year where I had a lot of anxiety attacks, went into depression and just consistently hated myself throughout the year.
It’s been the least productive years I have had in a very long time.
I just stopped. I stopped a lot of various projects I had initiated; just gave up everything halfway through the year and I don’t intend to repeat it this coming year.

I have so many goals, so much to achieve, and so much to do to reach the places I want to reach – in my career, as an Individual, as a daughter, and as a citizen.

I usually make one resolution and obviously fail at keeping it, but I decided for 2018 to start everything I wanted to start and to start improving myself –  so that If I don’t stick to all of them, I’ll surely stick to at least 1 or 2.

So here are my 2018 resolutions:

  1. Be consistent with my Blog.

I have tried really hard this year to make sure I post every week but it didn’t really work out that way because of my classes and exams. However, from 2018 I’m going to make sure I post once every week even if that means staying up till 4 am to write a post because I really need to learn how to time manage everything.

My posts from 2018 will go up every Monday at 7:00 pm IST.

  1. Read more

I remember when I was in school and during the 1st year of Uni, I used to read at least one book per week and I’m not sure what happened but I have not been reading that much this year (It’s probably because I am so busy and the only time I get to read is at night but I get so tired) which is why I am going to make sure I read at least one book per month and to also make sure I start reading more of non-fiction.

I’ll try to set reading goals based on the month we are in, for example, if its summer vacations, I’ll set my goal to 4-5 books.
If I’m approaching my examinations, I’ll set my goal to one book etc.

  1. Start cooking

So…I don’t know how to cook. I know a lot about food but I can’t cook and I want to change that this year because 19 and I really need to start being a little bit more independent. So yeah, start cooking.

And most of them will probably be Jamie Oliver’s recipes, but if all goes well, I might start posting some food related posts here too.

  1. Start budgeting.

I got a job this year as a dance teacher for a school (the only positive thing I managed to do in 2017) which means I am earning a bit of cash now and I want to start buying the things I need and want with that money instead of using my parent’s money all the time, thus, I need to start budgeting.

I think everyone should budget even if you don’t have a job make sure you budget the pocket money you get because this will help you understand adulting a bit more and it’ll be easier to budget your money later once you do start earning.

If any of y’ll have any good recommendations for budgeting apps, please let me know.

  1. Start thinking about my career.

I’m studying law but I still don’t know what I want to major in or what I exactly want to work as; which is why I really need to start doing research and talking to professors about the various fields in law and careers path in law because I need to do my internships based on the job or career line I want to pursue in law.

  1. Workout

I think this is on everyone’s New Year’s resolution list, so I’ll just leave it there because you all already know what I mean.

  1. Resume playing the violin + dance

I used to play the violin and then I just lost interest (mainly because of my professor. I hated that teacher) either way, I want to start playing the violin again and this time just practice at home instead of going for classes and doing competitions and exams, I think that’s when you lose the personal connection you have with music. The music schools make it so dry and alongside that, I also want to start dancing again for me. Not for people. Not for my job, but to improve myself and my dancing skills.

  1. Give a little bit more focus on University

So far I have mostly just been talking about extra activities and about improving my health and personality, but I always want to start giving more focus on university-related activities, be it competitions, exams and also to make sure I study a little more regularly and to not start a week before the examinations begin. I want to make sure I participate more in various competitions and try and attend various other extra courses.

And that is all of my resolutions for the coming year.

I really do hope I follow them or as many as I can and I hope I gave some of y’ll some ideas for goals to achieve in 2018.
